Cruising Grounds

Experience Level
A formal sailing license is mandatory to charter here. Review the power or sail requirements for Croatia while planning your vacation. Please contact our Holiday Planners at 1800 553 720 if you have any questions.

Cruising Area

The cruising permit allows a yacht to cruise along the entire coast including the islands, except for certain prohibited areas.

Cruising Area Restrictions
No restricted areas for sailing except the military harbor at Split.

It is strictly forbidden to sail alone, we require two persons minimum on board.

Charts & Pilot Books
All the charts and pilot books you will need for the sailing area are issued at your chart briefing.

Nighttime Sailing
You must be moored at least one hour before sunset. Night Sailing is not allowed without permission from the base manager. The decision to allow night sailing is based on your skill level and can be requested in advance. You will need to fill out the Sailing or Power resume for the base to review but we cannot guarantee approval.

Cruising Permits & Taxes
A cruising permit is issued on arrival at the port of entry. The permit lasts for the calendar year and covers any number of exits and entries, but must be stamped at each major port by the harbor master and customs.

Moorings Fees & Taxes
Prices for monohulls: 1-1.4 Euro per foot in the official marinas. In high season prices are 10% more. Price for catamarans: Are 1.5 times the price for monohulls. Price for mooring lines in villages is cheaper than the prices in marinas. The price is determined by the port authority. Ports & Marinas

It is not possible to make reservations for berths in Croatian Marinas, or in small fishing villages. There are usually places but do not arrive too late! If you are not coming from abroad there are no formalities. The average price for a berth is between 30-50 Euro. There are plenty of marinas on the Adriatic eastern coast and all the information about them can be found in the Adriatic Nautical Guide that you have in the boat's library. Anything else you need to know will be covered in your chart briefing.
